Caroline, of Life and Other Complications, is somewhat preoccupied with coffee, particularly espresso. For me, some of the funniest lines in the book involve Caroline and espresso. But the idea of a character being obsessed with coffee has been around much longer than I’ve been writing.
Johann Sebastian Bach wrote a comedic opera about a coffee crazed young woman? It was called Coffee Cantata and was released in 1732. The plot revolves around a father who is foolish enough to try to come between his daughter and her beloved coffee.
